Inside the 2025 NFPA Conference & Expo: A Mighty Line Minute Recap of 32 Fire & Life Safety Innovators

Welcome back to Mighty Line Minute—where safety, innovation, and efficiency converge—in just a few short minutes. If you couldn’t make it to the 2025 National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Annual Fire and Life Safety Conference and Exposition in Las Vegas, don’t worry. We walked the floor and visited 32 fire and life-safety innovators.

The 2025 NFPA Expo was a hub of fire & life safety cutting-edge technologies, new safety solutions, and global leadership in fire protection and life safety. From fire-retardant-treated reclaimed wood to intelligent gas detection wearables, this year’s exhibitors brought the best of their worlds to the Expo floor. So, here’s a 10-minute breakdown of what you missed.

BCA Technology showcased their portable leak detection and wireless fire extinguisher monitoring systems, designed to alert personnel of tampering or removal in real time. Their booth became an unexpected center of attention due to a small explosion involving several imported AA batteries. The event prompted a swift investigation—proving once again the importance of safe lithium-ion battery design, charging technology, and use.

Blackline Safety took connected worker safety to the next level with integrated gas detectors and cloud-connected software platforms. Their real-time, lone-worker monitoring solutions stand out in hazardous environments where immediate response matters.

CAPSOL LLC’s emergency alert systems were especially relevant amid today’s unpredictable climate. Their UL Listed products facilitate real-time alerts during severe weather events, active shooter incidents, or civil disturbances—ensuring communication lines remain open when seconds count.

FireAvert LLC demonstrated how a small device can prevent kitchen fires through automatic stove shutoffs triggered by smoke detector activation. It’s life-saving simplicity at its best.

Amerex, with deep roots in Alabama, continues to lead in fire suppression systems—from kitchen hoods to lithium-ion battery combustible gas detection for electric vehicles. Their commercial and military-grade fire extinguishing products are built for extreme conditions.

Tyco, part of Johnson Controls, brought their trio of legacy brands—Tyco sprinklers, Simplex alarms, and Ansul fire systems. These names remain synonymous with reliability and comprehensive coverage in detection and suppression. Tyco is a recognized leader in fire & life safety.

Potter Roemer and Strike First showcased several foundational components of fire protection: fire extinguishers, fire hose systems and related cabinets valves, all built for durability and compliance.

Victaulic, another industry mainstay, stood out with its precision-manufactured grooved couplings and pipe-joining systems, designed for seamless installation in fire sprinkler and fluid systems. Their products are respected world-wide.

Bodine Emergency Lighting Systems illuminated their offerings—literally. From inverter systems to self-testing accessories, their solutions ensure that when power fails, emergency lighting remains reliable and NFPA 101 code-compliant.

Quam’s "Voice of Intelligibility" platform focused on clear and intelligible communication during emergencies. Their commercial speakers are engineered for high-performance voice evacuation and are manufactured in Chicago. Quam helps assure fire & life safety in many types of occupancies or assembly areas.

FireDos presented their rugged German-engineered foam proportioners and fire monitors—equipment trusted in industrial and petrochemical fire suppression applications worldwide.

Burnblock, hailing from Denmark, displayed biodegradable fire-retardant powders and liquids that penetrate deeply into wood and fibers without altering aesthetics. Their eco-friendly approach is widely respected in Europe for sustainable fire safety treatments.

Lehavot's fire detection and suppression systems covered diverse use cases—from buses and food trucks to large-scale industrial facilities. Their linear heat detectors offer rapid response and rate-of-rise analysis.

Dräger, with its long-standing German engineering legacy, provided information on flame detection technologies, thermal imaging, and respiratory protection gear. Their U.S. operations remain expansive and trusted across the board.

Kennedy Valve continues its legacy—started in Manhattan in 1877—by producing robust valves and hydrants vital to municipal water systems.

The Lenexa Fire Department of Kansas explained their NFPA-compliant hydrant color-band system that helps responders quickly determine available flow rates, representing public and private sector pre-planning and preparedness.

Kirloskar Fire Pumps and UTEC represented global fire pump and sprinkler solutions. While Kirloskar emphasized complete pump packages, UTEC showcased their progress in UL-listed half-inch sprinklers—with more approvals on the horizon.

Safety Storage Inc. caters to high-risk environments with custom hazmat storage buildings and cabinets, offering tailored protection for volatile or hazardous materials.

Amventco Inc. explained their passive ventilation design features, offering pressure-relief louvers and blast vents for critical spaces and risks requiring high-performance air and pressure control.

HyperSpike, part of Ultra Electronics—a British defense and security company—wowed attendees with the loudest electro-acoustic mass notification system on record. Their systems have achieved a Guinness-certified 182 decibel level! HyperSpike devices are built to cut through chaos while keeping people informed in real time. HyperSpike is another product that can help advance fire & life safety in many environments.

CAPSOL, once again worth mentioning, demonstrated the importance of effective public address and notification systems, especially in today’s climate of increasing gathering space vulnerabilities.

ASAP FireWatch provides trained firewatch personnel for planned outages and impaired systems in the mid-Atlantic region. Their use of digital tags and on-site patrols makes them a dependable partner for continuity of operations during fire protection impairments or hot work.

The United Soybean Board promoted soy-based, sustainable bio-products. It was a timely appearance amid increasing regulation and interest in environmentally friendly materials.

National Foam’s new Universal Green 1%-3% synthetic foam was launched in 2024 to comply with bans on fluorinated “forever chemicals” in firefighting foams. Their latest UL 162 tested fluorine-free foams are especially valuable for industrial and defense operations requiring protection of polar solvents and hydrocarbons.

There will likely be even greater fire research ahead involving fluorine-free foams intended for use in firefighting or within automatic sprinkler systems.

Performance Pipe, under Chevron Phillips Chemical, presented their HDPE piping systems designed for fire protection and infrastructure reliability. Their products serve as critical conduits in municipal and private systems alike.

Trans-Matic Manufacturing highlighted their precision metal stamping and prototyping services, essential for producing components in complex fire suppression assemblies, PEX pipe fittings, and in custom applications.

Tomoken Hose, based in Vietnam, made waves with their cost-effective fire hoses featuring fabric-reinforced outer jackets and durable PVC liners. They presented new, 1-1/2-inch hoselines that carried UL labels.

And yes—Mighty Line of Cleveland, Ohio was there too! Mighty Line showcased their USA-manufactured 50mil beveled-edge industrial floor marking and delineation tape, floor signs, and safety solutions designed to optimize 5S workflows, traffic direction, and hazard marking.
