From Warehouse Floors to Open Mic Nights: Inside Mighty Line with Jack Schultz
Introduction
In the latest episode of Mighty Line Minute (Season 2, Episode 21), we meet Jack Schultz, a dynamic new addition to the team at ShieldMark Inc., the makers of Mighty Line® floor tape. In this lively conversation, host Dave sits down with Jack to explore everything from the evolution of floor marking technology to the energy of Cleveland’s open mic and hip-hop scene. Jack’s behind-the-scenes insights and fresh enthusiasm offer a compelling snapshot of the innovation and culture driving the Mighty Line® brand forward. Inside Mighty Line, all are excited to have him aboard!
Although officially onboarded just six months ago, Jack is no stranger to Mighty Line. With over five years of experience in installations and site visits, he brings a practical, field-tested perspective to his role in Sales Operations. His move from hands-on applications to customer engagement is backed by a deep understanding of what clients need most in safety and floor marking products.
“I’m really excited for the future of floor marking,” Jack said. “We are the future. Everyone’s been painting lines for years, and that’s not a sustainable option.” His passion reflects the company's broader mission - to offer durable, cost-effective alternatives to traditional floor painting through innovative and durable floor tape solutions.
Inside Mighty Line, Jack is always eager to service customers with a smile, followed by follow-through and action.
New Products That Deliver on Safety and Style
Inside Mighty Line, one of the major themes in this episode is product innovation. Jack highlights a growing lineup of new offerings at Mighty Line, including “Tac Tape” (diamond plate) available across the full range of Mighty Line’s 50 mil floor tape, grit tape, and an expanded range of industrial safety signs. Those signs are also available to conform with either or both ANSI and/or ISO Safety and Color Standards.
“Tac Tape,” as described by Jack, is a standout. “We emboss our standard 50-mil tape with a diamond plate texture,” he explained. It’s got some feel to the foot with it, so the diamond-plate finish provides very good anti-slip (ASTM coefficient of friction) features under normal (dry) conditions, while keeping the durability of Mighty Line’s classic floor tape.
Available in the popular colors of red and yellow – the diamond-plate feature is also customizable in other shades and patterns. “Tac Tape” adds both form and function to industrial safety environments. These tapes are ideal for facilities that require high-visibility walkways with added traction.
The Mighty Difference
Mighty Line’s commitment to quality is evident in its specifications. Unlike most competitors offering floor tapes between 6 and 20 mils thick, Mighty Line tape is a robust 50 mils. Mighty Line’s 50 mil tape includes a patented beveled edge, tapering down to 10 mils at its outermost edges to reduce lift trucks dragging their forks – something always to avoid operationally.
According to Jack, the tape’s adhesive is another major differentiator. “It’s a rubber-based adhesive, but we also offer acrylic adhesives for cold storage and freezer environments,” he noted. This versatility allows Mighty Line to serve industries ranging from manufacturing to warehousing to food processing.
Plus, the company stands behind its Mighty Line 50 mil floor tape product with a three-year limited warranty - an industry-leading vote of confidence in its strength and durability.
Safety Signage That Goes Beyond Compliance
Another area seeing rapid growth is Mighty Line’s custom safety signage. As more companies adopt 5S and lean manufacturing standards, there’s increasing demand for visual cues that go beyond outdated OSHA templates.
“OSHA’s regulations are a little bit outdated,” Jack remarked. “We’re offering more precise and specific signs - like ‘Safety Shoes Required’ or ‘Do Not Block Electrical Panel.’” These signs are available with both ANSI and ISO-compliant designs and can be applied to a wide range of floor surfaces, such as clean and smooth concrete, epoxy coatings, and polyaspartic finishes.
Bringing Robots into the Warehouse
Inside Mighty Line, innovation is always at work. Perhaps the most exciting revelation in this episode is the introduction of robotic technology at Mighty Line. Jack previewed a new robotic tape applicator, which will allows users to lay floor tape using its “Mighty Bot” controlled by a tablet-based remote control system.
“It’s going to be a huge help,” he said. “It saves time and reduces wear and tear on installers - especially when used on bigger jobs in large warehouses.” This tech-forward approach underscores Mighty Line’s position at the cutting edge of industrial safety and efficiency.
More Than Tape: Culture and Community
The conversation also touched on Jack’s recent move from Chicago to Cleveland - a transition that’s been surprisingly pleasant. Now living in Lakewood, Ohio, Jack enjoys the local culture, vibrant food scene, and the abundance of nature found in Cleveland’s “Emerald Necklace” known as the Metroparks system.
“In Chicago, you don’t get much wildlife,” he said with a smile. “Here, I saw three deer just lying in someone’s front lawn the other day. It’s beautiful.”
Jack’s enthusiasm extends beyond work, too. A fan of hip-hop, he frequents local open mic nights, where he appreciates the creativity of up-and-coming artists. Don’t be surprised if you catch him performing a “Mighty Line verse” one evening - he promises it’s in the works.
Conclusion: The Human Side of Industrial Innovation
Jack Schultz’s appearance on Mighty Line Minute offers more than just a product update - it’s a look into the vibrant, human side of an industrial brand. Whether discussing new anti-slip Tac Tape or sharing stories from Cleveland’s music scene, Jack brings a relatable, energetic voice to Mighty Line’s growing team. Inside Mighty Line, he is an enthusiastic force to be acknowledged!
His experience on the front lines of installation, combined with his forward-looking approach to safety and technology, makes him a valuable advocate for customers and colleagues alike. With innovations like robotic applicators and a growing catalog of safety signage, Mighty Line isn’t just keeping up with industry trends - it’s setting them.
