On today’s episode, we’re going to be talking about the first S of the 5S Methodology: SORT.

If you’ve ever gone through your house and done any sort of spring cleaning, then you already pretty much know what the first S of the 5S Methodology is. That is, to go through and SORT.

Now, that means going through and determining the things that are essential from the things that are not essential. This means that it’s going to be a keep or get rid of situation. You’re going to go through and you’re going to figure out the ways to absolutely streamline everything in your facility to make everything run as great as it possibly can. To assist you in this, we’re going to be going through and looking at the 5S Methodology over the coming weeks.

Keep in mind that going through and doing that sorting process is going to take a lot of the clutter out of your workplace. It’s going to streamline things. It’s going to allow you to operate at your absolute optimum performance. Next week, we’re going to be talking about the next step, which is STRAIGHTEN. That’s going to be going through and finding a place for everything that you have deemed as essential. We’ll make sure that we go through and cover that in detail next week.
